Events

GLMI Events highlight developments that materially affect LNG marginality.

What GLMI Events capture

These may include:

  • Supply disruptions
  • Infrastructure outages
  • Shifts in shipping economics
  • Changes in regional demand patterns

Events provide discrete context around transitions in marginality regimes.

Event labels and lifecycle

  • The regime-shift event uses a date-level Europe-vs-Asia label from basin_competition_score: above +0.20 EU_MARGINAL, below -0.20 ASIA_MARGINAL, otherwise BALANCED (renamed from LOOSE_BALANCED on 1 October 2026). This rename applies to the event label only; the signal's marginal_basin column is unchanged.
  • An event that a later data revision removes is not deleted. It is written as a new version with event_status = 'SUPERSEDED' and superseded_by_source (EIA for a restated Census first print, DATA_REVISION otherwise); the original stays visible through as_of.

Accessing GLMI Events

from snowtrail import Snowtrail
client = Snowtrail(api_key="your-api-key")

# Fetch GLMI events (e.g. regime shift)
df = client.glmi.regime_shift(date_from="2024-01-01")

# All methods return pandas DataFrames
print(df.head())
