Events
PEMI Events capture discrete physical developments.
What PEMI Events capture
PEMI events are derived from outage notifications at (bidding_zone, event_date) grain. They record announced generation and
transmission unavailability:
- Infrastructure outages
- Maintenance events
- Logistical constraints
- Operational disruptions
Events are time-bounded and asset-aware. An event fires on a transition into the elevated state, not on every day the state holds.
Event types
| Method | Fires when |
|---|---|
outage_exposure_elevated | Announced outages take more than the ELEVATED share of a zone's firm capacity offline (outage_exposure_level >= 2) |
supply_pressure_elevated | The supply-pressure leg crosses the same ELEVATED threshold |
critical_infra_alert is now outage_exposure_elevated, and
weather_amplified is now supply_pressure_elevated. The old names described
things the signal does not do: it reads outage notifications rather than
assessing infrastructure criticality, and there is no weather input to the
second event despite its former name. The band scale changed at the same time,
from NO_RISK / LOW / MODERATE / HIGH / CRITICAL to NONE / LOW / ELEVATED.
Accessing PEMI Events
from snowtrail import Snowtrail
client = Snowtrail(api_key="your-api-key")
# Outage exposure reached the ELEVATED band
df = client.pemi.outage_exposure_elevated(date_from="2024-01-01")
# Supply pressure reached the ELEVATED band
sp = client.pemi.supply_pressure_elevated(date_from="2024-01-01")
# All methods return pandas DataFrames
print(df.head())
