Signals
PEMI Signals apply the Snowtrail Signals framework to European power markets and energy infrastructure.
They provide continuous, interpretable indicators of outage exposure and grid stress by bidding zone. PEMI carries no price claim.
Available Signals
grid_stress(bidding_zone=...)
Primary grid stress signal combining critical infrastructure risk, nuclear offline capacity, and supply pressure. Provides a composite view of how constrained a given bidding zone is at any point in time.
event_escalation(bidding_zone=...)
Event escalation context signal capturing surprise clusters and the compounding of concurrent outages. Useful for identifying when isolated outages are combining into broader grid stress.
weather_amplification(bidding_zone=...)
Supply-pressure elevated flag per bidding zone. Despite the dataset name, which is kept for API compatibility, it has no weather input and no WRSI join: every column derives from the supply-pressure share, and the flag is equivalent to outage_exposure_level >= 2 in grid_stress.
Typical use cases
- Monitoring grid stress across European bidding zones
- Identifying escalation dynamics during periods of concurrent outages
- Providing physical outage context alongside your own power price analysis
Design notes
- Signals are interpretable and documented
- Construction is consistent through time
- Point-in-time integrity is maintained to support research
- Bands are NONE / LOW / ELEVATED
